In December we had 3 new residents after the HIV/HOPE home in Prima Beruntong closed down. We were sent 2 adults and 1 kid. Both the adults,Chinese in thier forties were HIV positive with 1 of them also on dialysis and Diabetes. A 10 year old boy by the name of Chuckey, a Liberian national, HIV + was also admitted. However his passport expires on the 21st of Jan. Hence had to get Malaysian Care to take him and get his documents, air tickets etc ready to send him back.He left the home 9th Jan.As for the other 2 adults, after a stay of 3 weeks they decided to go it alone as they were receiving Welfare aid. We raised no objection as they are adults capable of making their own decisions. However after 1 week stay outside, the lady with all the complications succumbed to heart failure and died in Serdang Hospital.
We joined with the boys home and had a carolling session with wellwishers from the PJ/Klang valley churches. They were joined by their nonchristian friends.

In December we started a home school. This year we have started a home school affiliated to the home school in Kota Damansara. The teacher has experience with teaching special needs kids like those with ADD, autism, and mentally challenged kids. We have converted 1 of our rooms as a class room. Yes they do have physical exercies every morning, drawing, maths,English and follow the syllabus. The classes are from 9-3 with breaks for the tea time and lunch monday to friday. The cost for the teacher in RM1600/-per month. We feel education is vital and my 2 special kids,Florina and Roselina will not be left behind. This idea was realised when we felt the present education system was not catering to the needs of the children. We do hope sponsors and benefactors will help us in this project.

10 year old Florina and 7 year old Roselina were sent to HIV/HOPE home in Prima
Beruntong. The reason being, as some of you are aware, both of them have been
diagnosed a will ADD/ADHD and were put on Ritalin for a month and a half.As there
are no schools for kids like them in Bata Arang,Country Homes,Tasek Puteri and even
in Rawang,
their education was of great concern to us. We even employed tutors who majored in
Psychology, but to no avail. It was frustrating to both parties. Sao when we came to
know
about home schooling for the kids at HIV/HOPE. We got in touch with them and they
were very
gracious in accepting them.So they stay there and asttend school there. I personally
made
3 visits to the home and also met the teacher. Iam pleased to inform you, that both
the girls are well
adjusted, not as distructive as when they were in Rumah Jaireh. They also seem to be
well adjusted to the

PDFDecember saw us registering Kartika in Std 2 and Suhathy in Std 1. Kartika is still without documents but with help of Keadilan we got her admitted while awaiting her birth certificate - a process that started in April 2010 when she first came to the home. Meanwhile her parents approached Keadilan rep. wanting to see her. I took her to her maternal uncle's house where the parents were supposed to meet her as I refused to send her back to her parents as they had no fixed abode. They met up and they bought her Deepavali clothes and costume jewellery. But when I asked if she wanted to go back to her parents she neither wanted to stay on at her uncle's place nor return to her parents. A great risk on my part but it all turned out well.
